Hitting a new milestone, the PBA on Monday revealed its all-gold logo to commemorate the league's 50th anniversary that will happen on April 9.
During the presentation, the league gave nods to past and present PBA stars who helped shape basketball in the country and paved the way for making the league one of the best professional fixtures in Asia.
League commissioner Willie Marcial said the new logo will be used as patches placed on players' jersey uniforms starting with the semifinals of the PBA Season 49 Commissioner's Cup. Game officials and league executives will also sport the new logo during games.
Aside from the new logo, PBA will also conduct campus tours that will see current players visiting their alma mater to help them revisit their roots before setting foot at the bigger stage.
PBA vice chairman and Barangay Ginebra governor Alfrancis Chua shared they will also seek help from Rain or Shine organization in assisting them to refurbish basketball courts at various barangays in the country.
These, according to PBA chairman Ricky Vargas, will help the league in redefining its relationship with the fans.
"We are going to reach out to the community, we are going to reach out to the basketball fans, and we will redefine our relationship with basketball fans," Vargas said during a press conference in Mandaluyong.
"We will redefine our teams' relationship with the public."
Marcial bared the PBA All-Star Weekend will happen from May 2 to 4 in Davao del Norte with players hailing from the Mindanao region taking part in the annual festivities.
The PBA Season 50, meanwhile, will open on October 5 with Smart Araneta Coliseum serving as the tentative venue.
